Some people are reluctant to try yoga because they feel they are not flexible enough. I was that way 10 years ago. I thought that the point about yoga was the pose, looking good in the pose.
Every time I am on the mat, I realize that the poses are not the destination, but simply part of the journey of practicing yoga. They are simply tools to help me focus on the present moment, the only moment that matters to experience my life.
Regardless of physical flexibility and strength, anyone - beginner or more advanced yoga practitioners - gains the same benefits: the opportunity to practice staying in the experience. Being present.
Namaste!
